Diagnosing a need in two minutes at the counter

A simple method for pointing people right, without being a dermatologist or a pushy salesperson.
Listen to the word used
“It feels tight” indicates a damaged barrier; “it shines” excess sebum; “it itches” reactivity. The customer's vocabulary already points to the right product family.
Repeating that word back confirms you understood — and that is what builds trust in thirty seconds.

Two questions, not ten
“How long has it been like this?” and “what are you already using?”. Those two prevent most advice errors, particularly stacking actives.
A longer interrogation makes people uncomfortable and feels like a forced sale.
Propose one step, not a routine
Selling five products at once to someone using none guarantees irritation and a return. One change at a time gives a readable result.
And that is what brings people back: the customer attributes the improvement to your advice, not to chance.
