What changes in the skin after forty

Less sebum, less collagen, slower turnover. How to adjust without upending everything.
Skin becomes drier
Sebum production declines gradually, and with it the protective film. Skin that was combination at thirty can become dry and reactive at forty-five.
So the first adjustment is not an anti-ageing product: it is a richer texture and gentler cleansing.

Turnover slows
Cells take longer to rise, giving a duller complexion and less smooth texture. Gentle, regular exfoliation compensates for much of it.
One caution: thinner skin tolerates acids less well. Spacing them out gives better results than raising the concentration.

What matters most
Sun protection remains, by far, the most effective step against visible ageing. No serum compensates for daily unprotected exposure.
Internally, protein and vitamin C intake support tissue quality — a slow, real effect, not to be confused with a cosmetic promise.
