Does drinking more water make skin better?

The honest answer is nuanced. What internal hydration changes, and what it will not.

What is true

Real dehydration shows: dull skin, less suppleness, more visible under-eye shadows. Correcting a deficit therefore improves overall appearance.

But beyond your needs, drinking more adds nothing: the excess is eliminated, it is not stored in the skin.

What matters more

Water lost through the surface — evaporation through a damaged barrier — weighs far more than intake. That is why an occlusive cream visibly changes things where an extra litre of water does nothing.

The logical order: repair the barrier, then maintain normal hydration, not the reverse.

The real role of diet

Protein, vitamin C and fatty acid intake influence tissue quality over months. It is a slow, real effect, quite different from the instant one attributed to water.

A supplement supports a diet; it does not correct an established deficiency, which needs medical advice.
